Seeking Peace and Prosperity for Memphis

Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.” Jeremiah 29:7

Jeremiah instructed the nation of Israel to work for the benefit of Babylon when they were exiled.

This world is not our home. We are made for more, better. Eden isn’t fantasy. Man fell and with us fell the world. But our call does not end. We must adjust to what’s around us, without becoming part of the world.

Lord, we know there is a better Memphis to be found than one filling headlines with death and destruction. May we repent of generational sin and heal from generational trauma. Link up Your children to bring light and life to this city. Open doors for Your Kingdom’s work in 2024. Bless the new mayor, Paul Young, and his administration in their work. Remind them that they don’t have to be the saviors. We already have one, if we would just turn to Him.

Lord, stop the killing and stealing of life and property in Memphis. Open our eyes to where each of us can provide for our neighbors, children of God, this coming year. May we seek the peace and prosperity of Memphis. In Christ’s Name, amen.
