And God said, “Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years, 15 and let them be lights in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth.” And it was so. 16 God made two great lights—the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars. 17 God set them in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth, 18 to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19 And there was evening, and there was morning—the fourth day.
Lord, do we know when we are living sacred days? Where are the Mordecais to remind us “And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”
We see chaos on the MSCS school board, shootings at Main Event, men arrested with rifles outside of elementary schools and wonder why. Who is going to fix this fallen world?
It’s up to us. We must repent of our sins and seek God. We must love our neighbor and share with them the love and hope that we have in Christ Jesus. But Lord, we can only move in Your power. Defeat the strongholds of sin and darkness. Work first in our own hearts and grant us courage to proclaim the good news to all.
Raise up a generation Lord that seeks You first. Empower the body of Christ to live boldly. Lord, don’t let us settle for chaos when we know You are the one to bring order out of it.
Lord, may this prayer and many prayers like it be heard. Set up divine appointments for your believers to come together to encourage and strengthen one another, be it over coffee, in breakrooms, on sidewalks, or prayer meetings. May Your light shine brighter tomorrow in Memphis than it did today. In Your name, amen.
