Lord, bless the work of Tricia and Lacey at Sista 2 Sista in Binghampton. They are loving their neighbors, women caught up in drugs and prostitution, and providing respite and Your truth. Protect them. Watch over them. Bring them resources to serve and Your hand to bless those they come into relationship with. Lord, soften hearts to Your word. Bring peace to the drop-in center. Bring warm meals and sustenance to the hungry. By Your name, cast out the demons of drug addiction. Lord, as their witness can attest, no one is too far gone. You listen to Your children’s cry and respond.

Bless their work and work of others in our community, seeking to bring light to the darkness. May they walk boldly, with God of the Angel Armies behind them. Lord, open our eyes to the work that needs to be done, that we may be Your hands and feet. Grant us strength to endure hardship and rejection so that Your name will be glorified and Your children redeemed. You are Christ the King and we call on You to be present in the streets of Memphis this very night. May Your Love conquer death. In Christ’s name, Amen.

We celebrate our music in Memphis and the artists that create it. Lord, may those artists use their platform in ways that glorify You. May lyrics build up, rather than tear down. Lord, may Your truth be found in the words and music of the musicians as they share their gift with the world. In Christ’s name, amen.

Beware of the scribes, because they for a pretense make long prayers. Their relationship with God was far more show than substance. The scribes thought they were more spiritual because of their long prayers. But G. Campbell Morgan wrote that when a man is away from his wife and the journey is short, the letters are short. The farther he is from his wife, the longer the letters become. Morgan said that some people must be a long way from God because their prayers are so long. – From https://enduringword.com/bible-commentary/mark-12/

Lord, may our simple prayers reach You. We pray for a renewed heart in Memphis and a redeemed people. Bless this town. Give strength to Your children. May You use them to defeat darkness in our community.

Lord, we pray that those without power have it restored soon. We pray for those at risk of health issues from this high heat find shelter during the day. We pray that our law enforcement and judicial systems find a way to protect our city that is just in Your eyes. Lord, we pray for the judges and attorneys to seek Your guidance. Don’t let evil get away. Vengeance is Yours.

    In Christ’s name, amen.

    The Widow’s Offering

41 Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. 42 But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents.

43 Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. 44 They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.” Mark 12:41-44

Lord, tonight we lift up those people and organizations giving all they have for the Kingdom. We pray for that same faith, Lord, and hearts, among Your children.

Lord, we pray for laborers for in this city for the harvest is ripe. Lord, I ask for additional believers to pray over our city in this forum. Lord, I ask for guidance on who to pray for and how to pray. Let my words be filled with Your love and truth. In Christ’s name, amen.

“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.

    Praise the Lord.” Psalm 150:6

These are the final words of the book of Psalms. All creation is to praise the Lord. We rejoice in it, even through the hard times.

Lord, tonight we lift up the MLGW and TDOT crews doing maintenance after storms and restoring power. We pray that they are recovering from long hours and hard work. We pray for the Memphis Light, Gas and Water’s 117 electric repair crews, supported by 24 troubleshooters, 101 tree cutting crews, 48 damage assessment crews and hundreds of engineers, logisticians, system operators and other support personnel that restored power to 121,400 customers affected by the supercell thunderstorms on June 25 as well as the 35,000 customers affected by additional thunderstorms on July 2. We pray that they be encouraged in their work. We are thankful for their work.

Lord, when the storms come, we pray they are ready. We know they will be here, but let us not forget that You can calm the storms. Lord, bless these men and women who show up in the worst weather. Bring the power back quickly to the most vulnerable. May neighbors care for neighbors. Lord, when Your awesome power is displayed in nature, let us remember who is Lord of it all. In Christ’s Name, amen.
