High Ground News, So Long

He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly[a] with your God. – Micah 6:8

High Ground News shut down at the end of 2024. I was hoping it was just a hiatus. The stories told were ones not often in the spotlight, about neighbor helping neighbor, lifting up the community one dedicated person or group of people at a time.

At the top if their website was their mission:

We cover Memphis neighborhoods with nuance and center the experience of residents. We expose Memphians to stories of their neighbors across the city. We seek to rebalance the news by exploring challenges while focusing on the people and solutions moving Memphis forward.

For me, it was a wonderful place to find organizations and people I could offer prayers for, including some mentioned on this site.

Tonight, Lord, we lift up our prayer to You, thanking you for High Ground News and the work they did sharing the good works most don’t know about. Their organization highlighted the good in an often broken place and we pray that their work and that spirit will rise again in a different form. Lord, for those who were profiled for loving their neighbor, may You encourage them once again. May Your light shine upon, one that can never go out. We pray for Memphis and the many children of God working each day to bring Your kingdom closer to reality. In Christ’s name, amen.
