“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord.” Psalm 150:6
These are the final words of the book of Psalms. All creation is to praise the Lord. We rejoice in it, even through the hard times.
Lord, tonight we lift up the MLGW and TDOT crews doing maintenance after storms and restoring power. We pray that they are recovering from long hours and hard work. We pray for the Memphis Light, Gas and Water’s 117 electric repair crews, supported by 24 troubleshooters, 101 tree cutting crews, 48 damage assessment crews and hundreds of engineers, logisticians, system operators and other support personnel that restored power to 121,400 customers affected by the supercell thunderstorms on June 25 as well as the 35,000 customers affected by additional thunderstorms on July 2. We pray that they be encouraged in their work. We are thankful for their work.
Lord, when the storms come, we pray they are ready. We know they will be here, but let us not forget that You can calm the storms. Lord, bless these men and women who show up in the worst weather. Bring the power back quickly to the most vulnerable. May neighbors care for neighbors. Lord, when Your awesome power is displayed in nature, let us remember who is Lord of it all. In Christ’s Name, amen.
